Carroll teams up with Prickly Pear Land Trust to host earth day scavenger hunt

On Saturday, April 29, at noon, Carroll College’s public relations class is teaming up with local Helena nonprofit Prickly Pear Land Trust to host an Earth Day Scavenger Hunt/Volunteer event.

The event will be hosted at the ADA Trail near the base of Mount Helena, offering volunteer hour opportunities for Carroll students who pick up waste on the trails.

While cleaning up waste, students will also participate in a scavenger hunt along the trails. Upon completion, the participants will have opportunities for gift card prizes to local restaurants like Makenzie River, Steve’s Cafe, Suki Cafe, and more.

Local Helena business, Mountain Berry Bowls will also be in attendance at the trail event.

“We are excited to engage the next generation of trail users and land protectors,” said Ashly Tubbs, Prickly Pear Land Trust outreach manager. “Being part of this class project has been a privilege, and we look forward to an ongoing partnership with Carroll College.”

Prickly Pear Land Trust works to conserve central Montana lands and is most popularly known in Helena for its trail systems throughout Lewis and Clark County.

“This semester, the class is working on an event they truly care about,” said Brent Northup, department chair of communication studies at Carroll. “It is a chance for public relations students to use the theory of public relations in the real world with a local nonprofit.

All students, faculty, and community members are encouraged to attend the event and enjoy a wonderful day wandering the trails of Mount Helena. The event will take place from noon to 2 p.m. on Mount Helena Saturday, April 29.
