Kicking up Saint spirit: Let’s dance!

Meet the new Carroll College dance team for the season of 2024.

Carroll has announced an addition to the athletics department: A competitive dance team. Faith Edmister has officially been named the team’s first head coach.

“The dance team at Carroll College gives me so much excitement and optimism for the future of dance at Carroll,” said Edmister. “With scholarships paving the way, these dancers will not only be recognized for their artistry, but embraced as athletes in a varsity spotlight.”

The season for Caroll sporting events is expected to start this August, as the team will prepare for game days and learn new competition routines. Carroll’s competitive dance team will work closely with Carroll’s cheer team at different sporting events and will also travel with them as they begin the 2023-2024 season.

The competition season starts in January when the team will be traveling to multiple competitions with the NAIA division. Furthermore, the competitive dance team will have the opportunity to attend Carroll sporting events and are expected to be present on the sidelines with Carroll fans at football games, volleyball, and basketball games.

Tryouts will be held on April 27.

The competitive dance team is aiming for about 10 students in the first year to become a part of this new program.

Edmister’s passion for dance truly shines through as she has been dancing since she was 3 years old. Edmister is honored and excited to be part of this new program.

“I valued every second of my collegiate dance career at the University of Montana and I am so excited to create the same experience for dancers at Carroll College,” she said. “ I am honored to use my previous dance experience for this team and step into the coaching role!”

Edmister is originally from Great Falls and is a 2023 graduate of the University of Montana with a Masters of Business Administration(MBA).

She spent several years on the Montana Grizzly dance team. This past fall, Edmister assisted with the Grizzly dance team’s choreography for in-game performances at Montana football games. In her fourth year, she was named captain of the dance team.

Students who have questions or would like to join the dance team, should contact Coach
