Carroll senior creates headlight cleaning business to pay for expenses

Jaden Harrison, a senior business major from St. George, Utah, has created a unique opportunity to help pay for his Carroll Education. Harrison created a car headlight restoration business called “Carroll Headlight Restoration” that has helped him with paying for school as he goes into his 6th semester of college. Harrison got help with the idea from his father who works in the automotive industry.

“I sat down with my dad and we put our minds together to figure out something relatively easy that I could do on cars but at the same time would be effective for the consumer,” said Harrison. “We came to the conclusion that headlight restoration would be the perfect fit given that they constantly need cleaning as well as they can be cleaned within 30 minutes.”

When he restores the headlights, Harrison starts out by taping off the headlight and cleaning the lens with water. He then removes the top layer of dirt with a wet sand drill, and finally polishes using microfiber cloth and sprays on a clear coat for a lasting finish.

Harrison started Carroll Headlight Restoration during his freshman year of college and has been able to keep his schedule full with appointments throughout his five years at Carroll.

“This job has been a perfect fit for me to be able to make money while also being able to balance the student-athlete lifestyle,” said Harrison.

Harrison uses a platform known as Facebook Marketplace to set up his appointments and advertise his headlight restoration business to the Helena community.

“Being able to use a platform such as a Facebook Marketplace has allowed me to easily market myself to the Carroll community and also communicate and set up appointments with my clients,” said Harrison

Harrison also plays football for the Fighting Saints and says one of his favorite parts about the job is “meeting all of the fans and the Carroll football community, it honestly is a blessing,” said Harrison.

Harrison plans to keep the Carroll Headlight Restoration Business going until he graduates next December.
