Carroll embarks on another academic year

As summer came to a close, Carroll College students arrived back on campus for the first day of the school year. Faculty and staff eagerly awaited for the campus to be buzzing with students once again.

On Wednesday, Aug. 23, Carroll College welcomed back its Saints for a new year.

Joshua Smalley, a junior civil engineering major from Missoula, said his third move-in was “fun.”

“It was fun to see the new room that I was going to live in this year,” said Smalley. “I kept running into people that I didn’t get to see over the summer, and it made me feel more excited to be back at school. I met my new roommates, and we all got along really well. So far, I really like Trinity!”

Students prepared to embark on a unique journey with the support of the mentorship of the faculty.

The Saints came back to campus with a wide variety of fun activities available to them, such as swing dancing, an improv show, and an ice cream social.

On the day classes commenced president, John Cech spent quality time with students. He, along with student body president Guillermo Perez-Ochoa, a senior political science major from Denver, set out muffins and coffee in the morning for all to enjoy.

Students were able to gather before and after their morning classes for a quick snack before continuing the rest of their day.

“I was so excited to see my friends again,” said Tessa Hoover, a junior nursing major from Bothell, Wash. “It was my first day as a junior nursing student, which made me feel accomplished. It was cool to feel like, ‘Wow, all my hard work has paid off so far!’”

Students stopped by the entrance of the Carroll College Student Center to take pictures with friends and fun props to celebrate the first day of school.

For seniors, the last move-in was emotional, even sentimental.

“I feel ready to finally finish out strong at Carroll,” said Daniel Henjum, a senior health science major from Columbia Falls, Montana. “I will complete my undergraduate before going into graduate school to become a chiropractor. Go Saints!”
