Carroll College turned into a showcase of bold ideas and breakthrough thinking as students stepped into the spotlight to share their original research at the annual Student Research Festival (SRF).
Welcoming students, faculty, and community members on Friday, April 25, the day-long event, ran from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.. SRF showcased a large array of projects spanning the sciences, humanities, business, and the arts.
Past participant senior biology major Emma Boharski from Spokane, Washington, reflected on her experiences.
“It felt rewarding to present my research after working so hard and to see how interested people were in all the projects people did.”
Taking place in the Campus Center presentation spaces, filled with posters, attendees moved between oral sessions and poster galleries, engaging with a range of topics.
“It’s always interesting to see what topics people choose to do research on,” said Ryan Frampton, a senior philosophy and Catholic studies major from Whitefish, Montana.
The Campus Center buzzed with conversation as visitors stopped to snap photos of intricate poster layouts, ask questions, and be educated on the presenters’ projects. White-board easels outside each room listed presentation times that filled quickly with handwritten checkmarks, evidence of a steady stream of curious guests.
The SRF, now in its 16th year, remains a signature event on the Carroll calendar, highlighting the college’s liberal-arts mission and providing undergraduates with professional presentation experience. Providing students, the opportunity to show off the hard work they put in.
