Friday, May 5, Carroll College’s Anthrozoology Department will commence the celebration of its hard-working animals and students in the Perkins Hall Canine Center.
The culmination of this exciting event will send the once shelter dogs and cats to good and faithful homes.
The 2022-2023 school year will be celebrating the graduation of two dogs, Max and Kuma and one cat, Vindaloo as well as four senior project dogs’ Bucky, Copper, Izzy, and Moab will be recognized.
Kaitlin Cornell, an Anthrozoology professor, hopes the community will attend.
“These students will get to talk about their year with their animal and hand the leashes over to their new adoptive families,” said Cornell. “Light refreshments will be served after the ceremony.”
According to Cornell, the program has been a great success.
“This year has been going really well,” said Cornell.” We have students training their dogs in scent detection, service tasks, and sport dog skills. It has been so fun to watch the dogs and learn.”
Max, a pug bulldog mix, was a standout canine from this year, showing promise in the scent detection category, more than all the others.
“Max has taken scent detection well and loves to find where we hide the scent,” said Cornell. “You can’t help but smile when you watch how much fun he is having!”
