Carroll golf teams wrap up play at TMU spring invitational

The Carroll College Golf teams wrapped up play at their first event of the spring season, The Master’s university Spring Invitational, on Tuesday afternoon at the Crystalaire Country Club in Llano, Calif.

The Fighting Saints had a little rust coming out of winter, with the Women finishing in sixth place as a team (+154) and the Men finishing seventh (+141).

Celi Chapman (Montana City, Mont. / FR) was the highest finisher on either side. Chapman improved her round one score of 89 by seven strokes, shooting a two day total of 171 (+27) to finish No. 17 in the individual portion of the event. The rest of the Saints finished in order from 25-28. Stella Claridge (+39), Katie Fagg (+41), Kate Williams (+53), Megan Baxter (+58).

On the Men’s side, TJ Fierling (North Bend, Wash. / FR) had the round of the day, shooting a final day 81 to jump three spots on the leaderboard and finish No. 23 (+30). One stoke and one place behind him was Jackson Hammond (Scottsdale, Ariz. / FR) who finished (+31) and No. 24 in the individual event. JT Slivinski (Montpelier, Idaho / FR) finished No. 27 (+34), with Caleb Spangler and Michael Wall rounding out the five at No’s. 33 and 34.

The warm weather rounds should be a jolt of energy for the Saints as they wrap up the season later this month. This coming Saturday, they’ll host Providence in a dual at Bill Roberts GC, their final event before the Frontier Championship at the end of the month.
