CAMP plans spring semester activities

Creating adventures and memories with newfound friends is the focus of Carroll’s Adventure and Mountaineering Program (CAMP).

CAMP is gearing up for a variety of exciting events this semester including mountain biking, rock climbing, skiing, hiking, and more.

“CAMP events are open to everyone and all skill levels, said Carsen Paine, a junior psychology major from Wenatchee, Washington. “They are willing to teach, are not intimidating, and it is easy to make friends,” Paine said.

For those who want to plan their own outing, CAMP offers affordable gear rentals. Students can equip themselves with the necessities for a weekend of backpacking, fishing, or a trek through snow-covered mountains. Equipment can be rented from the gear room inside the Hunthausen Activity Center.

Each year CAMP also hosts an annual spring break trip. This year, students will have the opportunity to visit Moab, Utah.

“I am super excited for the spring break trip,” said Liam Lynch, a junior biology major and CAMP leader from Spokane, Washington. “The trip is several days of camping in beautiful Moab, Utah, where we will indulge in rock climbing, mountain biking, and canyoneering,”

Last year, students had a similar opportunity to travel to Moab on a canoeing trip.

“I would highly recommend that students go on the next Moab trip or future trips hosted by CAMP, ” said Christina Nguyen, a senior nursing major from Portland, Oregon, who attended the spring break trip last year. “I would never be able to plan my own 45-mile canoeing trip down a river and hiking up rocks that were so high in the sky.”

Students can learn about upcoming CAMP events and how to sign up by reading Halo’s Happenings, a weekly email sent by Student Activities. Email them for information at:  studentactivities@carroll.edu.
