2023 outdoor track preview

The Carroll College Fighting Saints track team will open up their 2023 outdoor season in Billings at MSU-Billings on Saturday, March 25, at the “Yellow Jackets Open.”

The Fighting Saints will compete in six meets this spring with competition from the Division I and NAIA levels.

Garrett Kocab, a fifth-year senior environmental policy and sociology major from Phelan, California, throws for the Fighting Saints.

“I have high expectations for myself this year, and I think the team will be good enough to compete for a conference championship,” said Kocab.

The Fighting Saints roster is made up of a majority of young talent, with only five seniors on the roster.

The five seniors are eager to provide leadership to Carroll’s young team.

Brett Glaser, senior business and marketing major from Glasgow, Montana, is a team captain and multi-sport athlete for the Saints.

“Being a team captain has given me a great sense of pride and responsibility,” said Glaser. “The joy of watching and helping the team not only grow in strength on the track but also in life is priceless.”

Both Garret Kocab and Brett Glaser are expected to lead their team on the track in their events and off the track providing mentorship to the younger classes.

Both women’s and men’s teams have hopes of bringing home a conference championship for the 2023 season.

Last year, Carroll qualified 13 athletes for NAIA Championships and had 17 student-athletes earn all-conference honors on the men’s side and 14 on the women’s side.
