Softball team competes in North Dakota tournament

On Feb. 3-4, the Carroll College softball team took two wins and two losses in a North Dakota round-robin tournament. The Saints lost 7-8 in extra innings against Minot and 1-6 to the University of Mary. They beat Valley City State University 7-6 and Dakota Wesleyan University 13-7 with help from their pitcher Abby Hanley, a senior from Las Vegas majoring in health studies.

“The four games in Minot were a great experience for our team to gain the chemistry on the field we need to perform well in the conference this year,” Hanley said. “We are excited for this season and ready for the fun road ahead!”

The Saints start their conference play on Feb. 24-25 with a home game against a rival school, the College of Idaho.

Kirsten Norris, a senior left-fielder from Phoenix, Arizona, studying health science, is excited about this season.

“This weekend was a great opportunity for me to get some live at-bats and time in the outfield,” Norris said. “We feel ready for the season and are excited for what’s to come!”
