“Regretting You,” directed by Josh Boone and adapted from Colleen Hoover’s 2019 bestselling novel, delivers a heartfelt exploration of love, betrayal and the delicate bonds of family.
The film follows Morgan Grant (Allison Williams) and her daughter, Clara (Mckenna Grace), as they navigate the aftermath of a tragic accident that exposes painful secrets and tests their relationship. The movie also features a very popular actor, Mason Thames.
I thought this drama was really good and entertaining to follow. I didn’t read the novel prior, but after watching this movie, I want to put it all together by reading the novel.
Through the emotional storytelling and strong performances, “Regretting You” captures the struggle to heal, forgive and rediscover the meaning of love.
“Regretting You” received a 28% on Rotten Tomatoes overall movie rating. I can see both sides of the likes and dislikes of this movie.
Hoover writes in such a deep and emotional way. I think the actors cast in this movie capture it really well. Some readers/watchers might find certain plot twists or endings “predictable” or “melodramatic.”
Personally, I think the storyline Colleen Hoover creates is very intriguing as readers and watchers, but I have to agree that her storytelling is very predictable. She seems to keep doing similar storylines, making it melodramatic every time.
Overall, I think the reviews on this movie are pretty accurate and straightforward, this character-driven novel portrays pain and beauty in relationships.
“Regretting You” will resonate with an audience who enjoys drama and emotional, heartfelt stories.
