After months of early-morning lifts and offseason training, the Carroll College football team hit the field for spring practice on March 24. The team has been preparing in the weight room, but now it’s time to put that hard work into action as they prepare for the upcoming season.
The spring session wrapped up spring ball with a team scrimmage on Saturday, April 26. The scrimmage gave fans a first look at the Fighting Saints as they start building toward next season.
“We’ve been putting in a ton of work, and it’s exciting to finally get back to real football,” said Elijah Larson, a redshirt junior business major and defensive back from Sandpoint, Idaho, “The spring game is always a great time to compete and see how we’ve improved as a team.”
One of the big storylines this spring is the addition of quarterback Kaden Huot, a Helena native transferring from the University of Montana. At 6-foot-3, 210 pounds, he’s expected to compete for the starting job and add some depth to the offense.
For the players, spring ball is a chance to prove themselves before the fall season, and for students, the scrimmage is just another reason to get outside and enjoy the energy on campus. With football and softball having occurred over the weekend, Carroll students were in for a fun weekend of sports and school spirit.
“It’s always exciting to see how the team has improved,” said Lexi Hutchison, a senior nursing major from Rupert, Idaho, who attended the spring scrimmage.
