On Oct. 9, students gathered at the Sleeping Giant Lanes bowling alley for a night of bowling with their peers. Carroll College offers several nights of free bowling for its students.
Bowling night is a time for the student body to take a break from school work and enjoy time spent with friends at the bowling alley.
“Bowling night is a fun night out with lots of good vibes,” said Isaac Schilter, a junior business major from Olympia, Washington. “It definitely wasn’t my best showing, so I don’t want to share my score, but bowling night is always a blast.”
The Sleeping Giant Lanes bowling alley offers a variety of food options, such as wraps, candy, pizza, burgers, and sandwiches for a late-night treat. They also sell fountain drinks and alcoholic beverages for students 21 years and older.
“My favorite food from the bowling alley is the cheese curds. They’re so delicious, and I highly recommend them,” said Emilie Turpen, a junior nursing student from Sisters, Oregon. “I also love to get the biggest size of Diet Coke with it. After a stressful couple weeks of studying for exams, there is nothing I need more than some cheese curds and yummy Diet Coke.”
This year, the bowling lanes filled with Carroll students celebrating a night away from their studies. Students can let loose while listening to a wide range of pop music provided by the venue.
Neon lights and disco balls decorated the ceilings and walls, adding to the overall atmosphere of leisure.
This event came at a rather useful time as students were beginning to prep before midterm studying began.
Students can utilize bowling nights as a way to relieve stress.
“Bowling nights are one of my most favorite events at Carroll,” Abraham Smith said, a junior data science major from Terry, Montana. “I get to get off campus and hang out with my friends. The vibe of the bowling alley is so fun because it has bright lights, disco balls, and booming music. They also have customizable scoreboards, and my friends and I like to customize our names and create funny nicknames for one another.”
