More than two dozen students participated in the Valentine Paint-a-Pot at Carroll College’s lower campus center on Thursday, Feb. 1.
“I signed up for this event because I get to hang out with my friends and paint for free. We love Paint-a-Pot in general, so it made us want to come support and paint here,” said Sophia Bourekis, a sophomore nursing major from Spokane, Washington. “I have been to every Paint-a-Pot event since being at Carroll and I think Carroll should continue hosting this event in the future.”
One of Carroll College’s core values focuses on working together for the greater good of the community both on and off campus. This year, Patrick Harris, director of activities at Carroll, organized the Valentine Paint-a-Pot event, creating new opportunities and activities for students to be able to come together and bond with each other and the community.
“I signed up for the Valentine Paint-a-Pot because I just like drawing things and doodling, and sometimes you need plates and cups in your room. Might as well have some fun with it,” said Alyssa Sabol, a sophomore anthrozoology major from Escondido, California. “You should see my room, I have too many plates and cups, but this is worth it.”
Kelly Parsley, chair of health sciences at Carroll College, said these extracurricular events are part of what draws students here.
“Carroll is amazing for extracurricular events,” Parsley said. “We have Patrick Harris who organizes dozens and dozens of events every year for the Carroll community: bed races, Guad Hill slip and slide, hikes, bowling, swing dances. I think it is easy for students to shy away from these events and choose to isolate or study instead, but once they join in, they will find how much fun Carroll can be!”
