Premiering Thursday, Sept. 22 at 7:30 p.m., Rodgers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella musical production was performed in the Carroll College FLEX Theatre located on the lower level of the Campus Center. If you were unable to attend the premiere, there are shows extending through Oct. 9 every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and each Sunday at 2:30 p.m.

The show runs right around 2 hours including the intermission. It is lively and fun for children of all ages, and funny and charming for adult audiences as well. Admission prices range from $5 to $15 and are available for purchase at, www.carroll.edu/theatre.

“It is so lovely to be back to full-fledged productions and a normal rehearsal and production cycle,” said Kimberly Shire, associate professor of theatre and director of theatrical production for the last 7 years.

The Rodgers and Hammerstein version of Cinderella is the new Broadway adaptation of the classic musical. This contemporary take on the classic tale features Rodgers and Hammerstein’s most beloved songs, including “In My Own Little Corner,” “Impossible/It’s Possible” and “Ten Minutes Ago,” alongside an up-to-date, hilarious and romantic libretto by Tony Award nominee Douglas Carter Beane, an American playwright.

“We polled theatre students and interested auditioners to see what show would motivate them to come back to campus a week early for rehearsals. Cinderella was the winner, hands down,” said Shire. “This version of Cinderella is updated for a modern audience. It is very funny and features a lot of familiar faces from the Carroll community.”

Ashtyn Reiners, a junior secondary education major is cast in the lead role of Cinderella, and Alex Coulter, a senior political science major plays Prince Christopher.

“This show is a classic and will bring smiles and tears to anyone who comes to the production – young and old,” said Coulter. “I am really excited. A lot of people have put a lot of hard work into it, and that hard work will be evident in the show.”
