Legendary Retreat: The sophomore sequel

The first-year students climbed their Legendary mountain first.

Now it was time for the “elders” to head up the hill.

On Sept. 12-14 the sophomores drove up to Legendary Lodge for the upper class retreat.

Twenty-six sophomores and twenty-six upperclassmen made their way up to Legendary Lodge.

For some, it was their second time helping on retreat this year. The weekend was filled with faith, fun, and friendship.

“The best part of sophomore retreat was that it was not only a great place to deepen and grow relationships with people I hadn’t really had the chance to previously,” said Grace Stecker, a health science major and Catholic Studies minor from Ennis, Montana. “It was also a great place to learn, understand, and have a better grasp of how to further pursue my faith.”

Each student took a weekend out of their busy schedules and made time for this retreat in the middle of nowhere, away from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

They enjoyed a weekend of swimming, community building, hiking, and some good food.

“I think the meditation period we had during Mass on the mountain – especially when Mass on the mountain was already so beautiful,” said Larissa Bernard, a sophomore biochem major from Burien, Washington. “And then you can reflect on your faith while being up on that mountain looking at God’s creation, which was just really peaceful.”
