The new and improved Holy Grounds is up and percolating.
Holy Grounds is a student-led coffee shop that recently moved into the space previously occupied by Tres Habaneros.
“Sodexo began talking about the move in November 2021,” said Dayna Ford, supervisor of Holy Grounds.
The renovation was an opportunity for both Sodexo and Carroll to enhance the student dining experience.
“The school decided to combine venues to save space and Sodexo provided a proposal that was agreed upon,” Ford said. “The construction bit took a lot of planning and even with all the planning in the world, the reality is that setbacks were bound to happen, and they did.”
The finished store is perfect for students to get coffee and pastries.
“It’s aesthetically pleasing, and I get coffee there often!” said Brooklynn Schultz, a sophomore from Mead Washington studying biology.
Construction began on Nov. 21 and was completed on Jan. 16. The new store was ready for business on Jan. 18, the first day of the spring semester.
Holy Grounds is open Monday through Friday 7 a.m.-2 p.m.
