After its official launch during the 2023 fall semester, the new Carroll College Competitive Dance Team is gearing up for its 2024-2025 season.
The college is breaking new ground with the introduction of the team, led by recently appointed Head Coach Faith Edmister, a former member of the University of Montana Dance Team.
“I am honored and excited to be named the first competitive dance coach at Carroll College,” Edmister said. “This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity for collegiate dancers in our state and the region.
“I am so excited to contribute to the rich legacy of excellence at Carroll, and work with such an awesome and committed Athletic Department,” Edmister added.
The move marks Carroll College’s commitment to diversifying its athletic offerings. Edmister’s enthusiasm is expected to attract a talented inaugural class of dancers, contributing to the college’s motto, “Non Scholae Sed Vitae.”
“Faith’s experience as a classically trained dancer and her role as a member of the Grizzly dance team will prove valuable as she lays the foundation for the Dance program at Carroll,” said Carroll College Athletic Director Charlie Gross.
The members of the team will dance alongside the cheerleaders at athletic home games, and also have the opportunity to travel to regional and national dance competitions. Recruitment for the upcoming season has already begun, and scholarship opportunities are available to interested students for next year.
