What got you into photography?
Last year I took a photography class at Carroll which got me into it. It’s more of like a hobby for me, it’s pretty fun, I really like the outdoors like national parks. Back home I live an hour away from the coast so I like the beach and rivers. I just like being outside and the class inspired me to keep doing it as a hobby.
What is your favorite type of photography?
Outdoor photography is number one. I also like taking photos of friends because I like capturing the memories and having that to show my family in the future. Just trying to capture memories.
What is your artistic process?
There’s not too much of a process to it. I take photos of things I think look cool and I just use some of the tools like shoot-through and framing that I’ve learned in class and I just try to implement that. I think the biggest artistic process for me is editing the photos in Lightroom. That’s my favorite part when I go in and color correct, turn up and down the contrast and highlights so I think to me that’s the biggest creative process of Photography.
What plans or goals do you have with photography?
I think I’m just going to stick with it as a hobby wherever I travel or whatever I plan on doing. It’s something fun to do, editing and taking photos. I see it as a hobby. Potentially I want to work in marketing so if I need to do photography for a job, I at least have those skills and some knowledge of it so I’m not roughing the dark on that.
Are there any photographers or types of photography that inspire you? There is a photographer on Instagram whose name is XBlackwell, and I really like fishing, I take a lot of fishing photography, so I try to insert photography of fishing and fishing gear. I try to emulate what he’s done. There’s another photographer I follow on Instagram and he’s got really cool pictures of tribes in Africa and I think it’s cool to see a different part of the world and different aspects. It’s cool to see his different take on these tribes.
What’s your favorite place that you have been able to shoot?
Number one would definitely be the Tetons. When we went to the mountain range, they still had snow on them and they’re huge grand mountains with white snow caps on all of them. The blue sky with the white mountains made it really pop. Recently I went to Going to the Sun Road at Glacier and I got some awesome photos there of some of the mountains, waterfalls, and wildlife like moose and mountain goats.
