The Carroll College Women’s soccer team defeated Multnomah University in the homecoming game last Sunday with a final score of 3-1, putting their overall record at 6-1-3.

In the first half of the game Kody Clements, senior elementary education and special education major from Nederland, Colorado, fought to score a penalty goal putting them in the lead 1-0. The second score of the first half was made by Zoie Koci, a junior from Boise, Idaho.

The game’s final score was in the second half by Amaya Winkler, a senior from Billings, to put them at 3-0. Sarah Conaway, a senior from Great Falls, protected the Saints from two shots as Carroll’s goalkeeper.

The Carroll College Women’s Soccer team had a very intense pre-season to prepare them for conference games. They had multiple practices a day tied with challenging fitness tests. Every minute they put into training helps them succeed on the field.

Stapleton describes pre-season practices and how they have prepared the team for games. Stapleton is a senior captain and a three-time Offensive Player of the Week.

“Our fitness tests are definitely difficult but they help hold us accountable to doing summer workouts,” said Stapleton.

Pre-season is a lot of work, but they also made time to bond with each other and have fun! “We make time for team bonding whenever we can so that we can take our minds off soccer every once in a while,” said Stapleton.

Come and support the Fighting Saints at their next home game on Friday, October 7, at 2 p.m. and watch their hard work pay off.
