With great excitement, I welcome you to the Prospector.
Chase and I invite you to join us as we document the year, bringing the news to you, uncovering truths, and compiling accounts of the lasting memories we make here at Carroll. My name is Natalie Brown, and I’m a senior environmental science major from Pasadena, California.
Now, what is an environmental science major doing here, you ask? As it happens, I began working on the Prospector last semester as a writer. Before I knew what had happened, I gladly became one of your editors this year, initiating phase one of the covert STEM takeover.
With that said, I’ve been a four-year starter for the Carroll women’s soccer team. Playing this sport has been a passion of mine since a young age, and I’m dedicated to keeping you up to date with our sports teams and all of our hard-working student-athletes.
When I’m not on the pitch, you can often find me exploring the trails under the Big Sky. Having grown up in Southern California, it’s been a wonderful opportunity to be so close to the great outdoors.
I was fortunate enough to spend the summer working for Montana’s Governor. After Carroll, I plan to return to work at the Capitol while applying to law school. Through this experience, I was exposed to the workings of this state, and my appreciation for Montana and its people has grown even more.
I look forward to stepping into the editorial role this year and bringing current events to you. Everyone can read a newsletter or watch the news, but we rarely see solutions.
As a competitive athlete, I was trained to look for wins. In my editorials, I want to not only highlight the issues but also hear your voices and get your opinions on creative solutions.
I have seen the need for Carroll student and faculty insights to local problems.
I look forward to bringing this solution-based mindset to the Prospector in the 2023-2024 issues.
