BUTTE, Mont. – The Carroll College Volleyball team fell in four sets to No. 19 Montana on Wednesday evening at the HPER Complex.

The Fighting Saints (16-10, 4-8) dropped their third and final match of the regular season against the Orediggers (17-8, 9-3) on Wednesday, struggling to get anything going offensively.

It was a poor hitting night for the Saints, who finished the evening just .024 as a team on the attack.

Montana Tech won the first set handily, 25-15, as the Saints went negative on the offensive front (-.028 A%), before taking a two set lead with a 25-20 win in the second frame.

Carroll did respond in the third set, fighting their way to a 25-21 win, but the comeback effort would come up short in the fourth with Tech pulling away for a 25-19 win to take the match.

Elizabeth Heuiser (Helena, Mont. / R-JR) and Rachael Stacey (Helena, Mont. / JR) each finished with nine kills, while Heuiser and McKaila Balcom (Pasco, Wash. / SO) added five blocks each at the net.

Hannah Schweikert (Columbia Falls, Mont. / R-JR) posted 26 assists, and Julia Carr (Portland, Ore. / GR) finished with 15 digs.

Montana Tech’s Olivia LaBeau finished with 20 kills, while Rhys Layton led all players with 54 assists.

Up next, the Saints will host Providence for the final time this season on Friday night at 7 p.m. in the PE Center.
