The Carroll College track team will start traveling to multiple meets, the first to be in Billings, on March 28, with hopes of placing at the national championship meet.
The track and field team hopes to qualify more athletes for the national championship for the Outdoor National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics held in Marian, Indiana in May. The Saints signed 20 new student men athletes and 20 new student women athletes to the program this year.
Kaiden Romney is a senior middle-distance runner, and a biology major from Frenchtown, Montana, who has been a part of the track and field program for four years now.
“We have a lot of dedicated, young talent coming in and I’m excited to see what they have to
offer to the future of the program,” said Romney.
The Fighting Saints will compete in 17 meets in March and April before the NAIA Outdoor
National Championship, including the Frontier Conference Championship held in Butte, Montana. During
the 2023 season, five athletes were qualified to compete in the national championship.
The track and field program intends to improve during the season, according to Crisha Polk, a
senior thrower and nursing major from Great Falls. She has been a part of the track and field program for
four years now.
“I am excited for this season and my goals are to improve my PR, (personal record) throwing
technique every week, and of course, place at conference,” said Polk.
The Saints are looking forward to trying to take home a conference title. Madalen Shipman, is a
redshirt sophomore distance runner, and business management and marketing major from Dillon,
Montana, and has been a part of the track and field program for three years now.
