Bozeman, Mont. – Saints Track & Field scored three more National Qualifiers at the Bobcat Performance Meet on Friday.
Weston Means cleared the NAIA A Standard in the High Jump, winning the event and jumping the 5th highest so far this year in the NAIA. The mark was a personal best and moved him to 2nd All-Time for the Saints. He is now less than an inch off of the school record currently held by Daniel East.
Brynn Wandle jumped to the NAIA B Standard in the Pole Vault. The mark puts her at the 11th highest in the NAIA and up to a 5th Place tie on the Carroll Top 10 Lists.
Zack Gacnik continued his strong year with an NAIA B Standard time in the 3000m. The time puts him at 6th in the NAIA and sets the school record in the event, passing up Lyle Pocha’s 2014 time by less than half of a second. Gacnik is also qualified for Nationals in the 5000m.
A slew of other athletes set personal records at the meet. This included Sorren Reese, Katelyn Christensen, and Anna Hume in the Pentathlon. Reese and Christensen moved up to 3rd and 5th All-Time for the Saints. Abigail McBeain (Shot Put), Claire Bucklin (60m Hurdles), Wyatt Cox (Triple Jump), Luke Decker (3000m), and Oliver Morris (3000m) set top individual marks that moved McBeain to 3rd, Bucklin to 7th, and Cox to 8th on the Carroll Top 10 Board.
Carson Krack placed 3rd in the 60m Hurdles with a time that moved him into a tie for the school record in the event. His long jump win moved him up to 4th All-Time as well.
The 400m races led to several additional Top 3 finishes for the Saints. For the women, Chloe Raats and Kailen Herbstritt went 2-3. On the men’s side Joe Ceccacci placed 3rd.
“It’s always a great day when we can get a few more National Qualifiers,” said Head Coach Harry Clark. “It was fun to bring a larger group and get a bunch of work in that will help us down the road too!”
