The newest addition to Carroll Athletics had their first games on Oct, 20-21.
Carroll College added a men’s basketball JV team this year.
The new coach of this team is Blake Isaacs, a recent graduate of Purdue University. Isaacs has been coaching in the ranks of high school and AAU in Indiana for a few years while in college. Isaacs was connected to Coach Dan Pearson here at Carroll College through a former coach named Carson Cunningham.
The purpose of this addition is to give guys who are freshmen and looking to prove themselves or older guys who haven’t played a lot a chance to play major minutes in a college basketball game.
“I’ve learned very quickly that Carroll is a special place and a tight-knit community. I’ve met some amazing people here so far,” said Coach Isaacs. “I think the coaches do a great job of bringing in great players, but also great people which builds a special culture throughout the athletic programs.”
Carroll College Men’s JV basketball team went up against the Rocky Mountain College Battlin’ Bears on Sunday. The game was well-fought by both teams. Carroll won the game 80-59 being led by Jackson Endresen, a freshman business major from Kalispell, Montana, with 20 points.
“The team did better than I imagined during the game, we were full of chemistry and able to get shots up left and right,” said Sam Conner, a senior psychology major on the pre-med track from Salt Lake City, Utah. “Overall, I think the team works relatively well together, even if there is conflict, all of us recognize we are part of a team and a family. There are moments of laughter, competition, and even joy, but all of those aspects make the team who we are.”
Carroll College Men’s JV went up against Rocky Mountain College again on Monday. This game was a good game for both teams, but Carroll College pulled ahead to win 96-77. Kaden Cox, a freshman nursing major from Fort Collins, Colorado, led the team with 22 points.
The Men’s JV basketball team will play Rocky Mountain College on Nov. 3-4 in Billings, Montana.
