How to Successfully Fake Being a Morning Person

Morning people who wake up ready to go? They need help.

How can you be happy when a blaring alarm ruins your sleep? I’ve never been a morning person, no matter how many times I’ve tried.
Some students crush mornings, but not me – I’m grumpy for at least 15 minutes after waking up. Did I make it through college without being a morning person? Yep.

Now, I’m here to teach you how to fake it till you make it.
First of all, maybe consider being a business major because I never had a 7 a.m. chemistry class, and thank goodness. Also, get all of your pre-requisite classes that could possibly be before 9 a.m. out of the way in your first few years. I was much more lively and motivated then, and it could go with little sleep. Now? I don’t do well without sticking to my schedule.

Call me an old lady if you want, but that’s how I roll.
Always have on-the-go snacks. My go-to is an RX bar. Is it sugar wrapped up in a bar? Yes. But it gets the job done, let me tell you.

If you need quick energy, invest in a Keurig and make some coffee in your dorm so you can feel semi-awake when you head out for class. If you have extra time, I always try to squeeze in a full meal for some lasting energy. So, if you do anything, eat something, and drink at least a little caffeine.

Now, this is where I really shine. I’ve mastered the art of looking like I’m “ready for the day” when I’ve barely made it out of bed. If I had a morning class and woke up with no time to spare, I’d do two things: splash cold water on my face and slick my hair back into a messy bun or ponytail. It looks like I tried. Then, I’d throw on jeans (jeans make you look put together) and a nice sweater, plus slip-on shoes. It doesn’t really matter what’s going on down there.

These are just my tips, and while they may not make me look actually put together, they helped me get through four years of college. Quick energy, and a quick get-ready routine, and somehow, I made it to class on time every day and stayed on the honor roll all four years. So, do with that what you will.

Cheers to all the non-morning people. I’m here for you.
