Luggage luggers: Volunteers welcome class of 2028!

Orientation

After a long summer of anticipating the upcoming school year, the new Carroll Saints were finally able to kick off the start of their college experience.

Carroll welcomed its newest Fighting Saints to campus on Sunday, Aug 21. When they arrived for move-in they were welcomed with volunteers cheering the new students on their way into the parking lot of their new home, Guadalupe Hall.

To make move-in easier, the volunteers assisted everyone by saying hello, answering questions, and helping the incoming freshmen unload their cars and bring them into their rooms.

Freshmen

“I thought it was nice and felt welcomed by the community,” said Guertin, a freshman Environmental Science major from Saint Paul, Minnesota.

After everyone was settled in, the first years set out to attend the various orientation activities to help new students make friends and learn their way around campus.

Students were able to meet new people and celebrate the start of the new school year, as well as the milestones every college kid has. Some of these activities included an ice cream social, student-parent BBQ, the Kickoff Swing Dance, and the new student convocation.

Volunteers

The environment of freshman orientation can feel full of mixed emotions and feel very busy. Freshman Braedyn Johnson first noticed the change in numbers compared to her hometown.

“There were way too many people. It was definitely really busy,” said Johnson.

Even though parts of orientation were like this for some, she said she still felt welcomed by the community. Johnson comes from Cascade, Montana, and is majoring in Business Management and Marketing.
