This fall we will give a heartfelt goodbye to a loved member of our administration as he moves on to different opportunities. Dr. Michael McMahon, Vice President of Student Engagement and Mission Integration, has accepted a new position as Vice President of Enrollment at St. Mary’s University of Minnesota. McMahon arrived at Carroll College in April of 2019 as the Vice President for Institutional Advancement.
“It has been a privilege to serve my alma mater, and it is with mixed emotions that our family embarks on this new adventure,” said McMahon. “I will so miss my colleagues and our students. I truly love Carroll’s mission, and I will regret not having the opportunity to continue to serve that mission.”
In February of 2021, McMahon stepped into the newly created position of Vice President for Student Engagement and Mission Integration. Over his time at Carroll, he has been an excellent ambassador of our mission.
“He has been successful in creating a very high performing team of leaders in the departments that he oversees including Student Life, Enrollment & Marketing, Financial Aid, Safety & Security, and Campus Ministry,” said President John Cech, president since 2018.
During his tenure, Carroll has achieved a number of noteworthy accomplishments, such as a significant increase in the number of students living on campus, favorable enrollment trends, a comprehensive branding campaign to strengthen our marketing initiatives, and, in partnership with our Vice President for Finance and Administration Lori Peterson, McMahonvery successfully implemented a request for proposal (RFP) for the college’s dining services, which has led to significant improvements in the range of services Carroll offers.
“I will greatly miss the leadership Michael has provided in his vice presidential role, but truly wish him and his family the very best as they undertake this new move to Minnesota,” said Cech.
President Cech said he plans on conducting a national search to fill the position and is currently developing a transition plan for the interim. McMahon’s last day will be Sunday, Oct. 23, 2022.
“Thank you to Dr. Cech for allowing me the chance to serve alongside all of you, and thank you for the gift it has been to do so,” said McMahon. “My time here has allowed me to learn and grow in ways I never could have expected.”
