Current COVID protocols

As the fall semester kicks off, it is important to remember where we once were, and what has allowed Carroll College to come back together. COVID-19 prevented students and faculty from being together in a classroom, and subsequently blocked half of all of our faces for a period following. President John Cech, president since 2018 has continued to support and help guide students through the changes over the past several years.

“Though we are in a better place than we’ve been for several years in terms of managing COVID,” said Cech. “We also need to recognize that COVID is still very present in our communities, so we continue to assess, adjust and determine methods to best live alongside it and limit its disruption to our lives.”

In order to do so, President Cech has shared with us information regarding Carroll’s policies with regard to COVID this fall.

There will be no testing on campus this semester; however, there are various locations in Helena which provide COVID-19 testing, and students and faculty are encouraged to take advantage of the federal government’s offer to have eight free rapid antigen tests mailed to your home or school address.

Although Carroll will no longer track and monitor students who are either COVID positive or in close contact, individuals are strongly encouraged to follow the guidelines for quarantine and isolation provided by the CDC.

“Carroll will no longer provide alternative isolation housing for COVID-19-positive students,” said Cech.

With the aim of a face-to-face semester, The Marching Forward Team has provided tips to prevent the spread of COVID while you are isolated in the residence halls such as wearing a mask, limiting face-to-face interactions, and avoiding common areas.

There is no longer a mask mandate on Carroll’s campus; however, as we begin what we expect will be an excellent fall semester, it is urged that everyone continue to be understanding and adaptable.

“Individuals may choose and are welcome to personally wear masks for any reason,” said Cech. “As a community, we continue to respect each person’s choices and personal circumstances.”
