The Carroll College Men’s Soccer team fell to the Knights of Warner Pacific, 4-1, on a gloomy Friday afternoon at Nelson Stadium in Helena.
The Fighting Saints (3-2-1, 3-1), on the second-leg of a back-to-back scenario, lost 4-1 to the Knights (4-3-0, 1-2).
Warner Pacific opened the scoring with a goal off the foot of Miguel Andalon-Ordoz, who was able to break past the Carroll back line and beat the keeper to the right side of the net and give the Knights a 1-0 lead.
In the 29th minute, Omar Seudy would slip past his marker and again beat the Carroll keeper to the right side of the net to double the lead, 2-0.
Carroll upped the pressure in the second half, and in the 65th minute Luke Rosenberger (Eau Clair, Wisc. / SR) netted a well-struck ball off of a tremendous cross from Michal Mojzis (Bratislava, Slovakia / JR) to bring Carroll within a score, 2-1.
The Knights responded just one minute later, when Antonio Cipriano-Ojendez raced down the left side of the pitch and found a third goal for Warner Pacific, extending the lead back to two goals almost immediately.
Hunter Leach added a final goal for Warner Pacific in the 76th minute to secure the 4-1 win.
While the scoreboard didn’t read how Carroll wanted it to at the end of the day, the Saints showed signs of improvement, outshooting the Knights 19-9 in the match.
