Students had the opportunity to connect with local employers during the career and graduate fair on Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 9:30 a.m. at Carroll College.
The event was designed for students to connect with local employers and provide internships and graduate programs that can turn into full-time employment.
The fair allowed students to speak directly with recruiters and companies that they are interested in. They could ask questions about career paths and build professional relationships before they graduate from Carroll.
Various employers gave students exposure to many fields that they might not have initially considered.

Kennedi Niemann, a sophomore, business marketing and management major from Cody, Wyoming, said she believes the event plays a significant role in preparing students for their future careers.
“I think it’s important because you can build relationships with employees before you graduate,” Niemann said.
Niemann said she has a general idea of what she wants to do when she graduates, but she is still open to ideas. A booth that stood out to her interests was Peak Physical Therapy & Sports Rehab.

“Peak PT was interesting to talk to, because it’s sports related and they had more opportunities than just being a physical therapist, and something I want to do,” Niemann said.
She said speaking closely with employers helped her understand how her degree can get her on potential career paths.
McKinley Ermshar, a sophomore health science major from Battle Ground, Washington, said the career fair opened her mind to many different career possibilities.

“It gives more ideas for potential future jobs you might want to go into,” Ermshar said.
Employers also offered advice for students, including how they can prepare themselves to enter the workforce.
Kristen Olsen, the head of marketing from Peak Physical Therapy, encouraged students to take the initiative and pursue the paths they want to explore. She added that it’s important for students to research companies before applying, make sure their company and moral goals align, and find organizations that match their interests.
“Immerse yourself and throw yourself into something you’re 100% interested in, dive into a company and get to know people you enjoy working with,” Olsen said.
