Carroll College held its 22nd annual Career Expo on Monday, Sept. 22, in the PE Center Event Room.
The event drew more than 40 employers and 10 graduate schools looking to connect with students for internships, jobs, and advanced programs.
“I think it helps make connections with future employers,” said Katie Fuchs, a junior double majoring in strategic finance and financial planning from Billings, Montana. “And give us a network of people to get internships.”
Just to name a few of the local and regional employers, including programs like JCCS, Wipfli, Intermountain, and DEQ.
Professors across campus encouraged students to attend, with some adjusting class schedules to allow time at the fair.
“It will help make those connections so I have an idea of what my future and career are going to look like,” said Grace Bock, a junior studying accounting and minoring in criminology from Vancouver, Washington. “And how I can better prepare for it.”
According to event organizers, attendance was record-breaking with student attendance this year, an increase from last year’s participation.
Career Services urged students to bring résumés, wear professional clothing, and use the event as a chance to build future networks, regardless of immediate job or graduate school plans.
“Attending the career fair helped me connect my degree to real world opportunities. Talking with different organizations, from the city of Missoula to the department of environmental quality, showed me how widely marketing and management skills are needed across industries,” said Torrin Nantz, a junior studying business management and marketing from Rochelle, Illinois. “My favorite part was practicing networking and experiencing how friendly and welcoming employers were.”
The PE Center Event Room stayed busy throughout the day as students explored internships, full-time jobs, and graduate opportunities.
The Career Fair will return next spring for its 23rd year.
