The Helena Bighorns had an electric face-off against the Badlands Sabres last Saturday night at Steed Arena.
It was Carroll College Student Night, so the audience reached its maximum. With a final score of 7-3, the night ended on a good note.
The Bighorns entered the game with a 7-0 record this season, coming off a big win against the Yellowstone Quake.
TJ Fierling, a Carroll College junior and business major from North Bend, Washington, is a big Bighorn fan.
“The pregame nature is electric,” Fierling said. “The rink is packed with Carroll students and fans supporting the Bighorns. The place is so loud and rowdy!”
Another Carroll student, Mats Lang, said the energy in the arena was intense, and he is excited to come back.
“I loved the environment,” said Lang. “It was so much fun, and unlike any hockey game I have been to.”
Friday’s game was the first of the two meetings between the teams this season, providing momentum going into Saturday’s game. With Carroll College students attending the game, the arena drew a crowd of more than 1,000.
The Bighorns will play the Sheridan Hawks on Feb. 13 and then the Yellowstone Quake on Feb. 14, both at home, in the Steed Arena.
