Carroll College students and medical professionals recently completed the 2025 Medicine in Mexico outreach mission, marking another year of impactful service and learning.
“I am very grateful for this authentic, eye-opening experience,” said Kylie Munsinger, a health sciences pre-physical therapy major from Kalispell. “As a pre-physical therapy student, I have always had a passion for helping others. However, serving in the Santa Maria mission allowed me to truly experience what it means to provide meaningful patient care.
“I was genuinely touched by each of the kids we worked with, and being able to form real connections with them made the experience even more impactful. This trip has greatly inspired my ambition to provide care to underserved areas in the future.”
The mission took place in the town of Colón, Querétaro, Mexico, and focused on providing essential medical care to the students, faculty, and staff of Santa María del Mexicano, a boarding school dedicated to supporting disadvantaged youth and the elderly.
The experience provided hands-on learning opportunities for six Carroll College students while immersing them in a new culture.
“My experience with the Medicine in Mexico program was an amazing opportunity for me to grow personally and professionally,” said Kenna Deshamps, a senior health sciences major with a minor in Hispanic studies from Missoula. “I recommend this experience to everyone. It not only challenges you to step outside of your comfort zone, but it also allows you to make a meaningful impact by serving others.”
The outreach mission highlights Carroll College’s commitment to global health and education, fostering cross-cultural understanding while giving students hands-on medical experience.
