The Fighting Saints have won every game since their first and only loss this season to Montana Tech on Sept. 7. They hope to keep their winning streak going against 8th ranked Southern Oregon this Saturday at 1 p.m. at Nelson Stadium.
Carroll won their last game Oct. 26 in Caldwell, Idaho, against the Idaho Yotes, 42-29.
Carroll’s offense played a strong game with Jack Prka throwing 23-for-29 with 461 passing yards and five touchdowns. Chris Akulschin also had an outstanding game with five receptions for 225 yards and two touchdowns. Gavin Vandenacre added six receptions for 133 yards and a touchdown. Carson Ochoa had eight receptions for 83 yards and a touchdown.
“It’s a great feeling to get a win against an opponent like that, everyone came together,” said quarterback Jack Prka. “It was an amazing team win.”
Carroll will be facing tough opponents the rest of their season.
“We have to continue to get better over the next few weeks and it starts at practice,” said defensive end Hunter Peck. “The coaches do a great job putting us in positions to be great. We just have to go out there and take advantage of those opportunities. We are all starting to mesh really well. Everyone has bought in and that is what we are going to need if we want to win.”
The Saints will play their final home game of the season this weekend, on Senior Day. The Fighting Saints take on Southern Oregon, another challenging opponent ranked 8th in the nation. The Saints winning streak has lifted them to a top 25 national ranking, at 21st, heading to Saturday.
