The Women’s soccer Saints kicked off their Homecoming weekend by earning a hard-fought tie against Rocky Mountain, their third deadlock of the season.

The Rocky Mountain game ended in a tie 1-1 on Friday, Sept. 20. Jaymee Sheridan, a senior nursing major from Helena, made the only goal for Carroll during the first period. Rocky Mountain scored once during the second.

After having Saturday off the Women’s team came back strong on Sunday, Sept. 22 to play their second conference game against Walla Walla University and won big with a score of 15-0. In the first period alone the Saints were up 8 goals and scored 7 more in the second period to beat the Walla Walla Wolves.

The team’s first non-conference game was Aug. 24  against the University of Lethbridge Horns at Nelson Stadium, earning our Lady Saints their first win of the season. The Saints had two wins, two ties, and one loss for non-conference games this season. The team’s first and only loss so far was to the MSUB Yellowjackets in Billings, 0-5.

Senior soccer player Steffi Smith, a nursing major from Oakland California, is impressed with the new recruits.

“They’re actually amazing,” said Smith. “They’ve been integrating into our team very well. They’re just amazing people. They have definitely helped our team just become a lot better and enriched our team with a lot of personality.”
