By Caleb Hoxie has left it all on the field – and in the library – during his four years at Carroll.
In the classroom he’s a 3.7 engineering major.
On the field, he’s a first-team all-conference soccer player.
And when the season ends, Hoxie doesn’t slow down.
“During summer, I remember waking up every morning at 6 a.m. to run, work out, and get my day going,” he said.
Caleb Hoxie is a senior from Kennewick, Washington, majoring in engineering.
During his time at Carroll College, Hoxie played a pivotal role in the development of the soccer program. Despite facing challenges in the team’s early years, Hoxie’s work ethic and leadership paid off during his final year when he served as captain.
“I admire Hoxie’s leadership,” said Ryan Quinn, a senior from Helena, majoring in Social Studies Education. “This is due to his soccer knowledge, and passion for the game, and ability to lead by example.”
His leadership led Carroll College to its second-ever playoff appearance, after finishing fourth in the conference. The team also broke the record for most points in the program’s history.
Hoxie’s contributions on the field did not go unnoticed, as he was named a first-team All-Conference player. He was also named the team’s Most Valuable Player. He started all 15 conference games, playing 1177 minutes and contributing three goals in big games.
As he looks towards the future, Hoxie has decided to enroll for a fifth year at Carroll College with the goal of leading the soccer team to their first-ever conference title.
Experiencing what it was like to be at the top and seeing the possibilities during the fall season only made Hoxie hungry to come back and reach that goal.
Hoxie brings that same intensity to all aspects of his life. He’s taken on increasingly greater responsibilities throughout college.
“He is the world’s greatest multi-tasker,” said Charles Cram, a senior from La Conner, Washington, majoring in accounting. “There could be a full-blown party going on and that guy will be cranking out his homework. He is also one of the most competitive people I know. He HATES to lose.”
Hoxie maintains a 3.7 GPA. He earned academic all-conference honors three times, made the Dean’s List seven times, and was named a Regional Academic All-American in 2023.
All that, with equal dedication to his education.
Hoxie hopes to become a civil engineer.
“I aim to achieve something significant in my career, whether being part of a team that designs something important or by rising to a position of great importance in my field,” said Hoxie. “It’s especially important to me to be able to tell my children that I am doing or did something important.”
Hoxie knows what it takes to succeed, to reach a goal. Whether in his full-time career or in his part-time hobbies, he aims high and works hard.
Hoxie hopes people remember him as a kind person.
“I would hope people see me as someone who is just a good person,” said Hoxie. “I don’t always have to be your friend or be someone who is profoundly smart. Just at the end of the day they say, “he was a good person.”
Even when he was young, Caleb was willing to put in the work to better himself and those around him.
“I was a really serious person growing up,” said Hoxie. “I always wanted to be the best at everything, I always wanted to be perfect. So sometimes when things didn’t work out for me, I got really disappointed or angry or both. Over the years I have tried to stop being that person. To laugh more, to be more unserious. I think it has really helped me be a better person. I have better relationships with my friends, feel better about myself and believe in myself more.”
