Welcome: Chase Coyle

Welcome to the first edition of the Prospector for the 2023-2024 school year. Natalie and I are super excited to be this year’s co-editors and cannot wait to represent the students throughout the year. Some rumors about St. Charles are making rounds around campus, but we will save that for the October issue. For now, we will start with an introduction.

My name is Chase Coyle, a senior public relations major from Grants Pass in Southern Oregon. I have been writing for the Prospector since the spring of my sophomore year, covering international profiles of all our spectacular international students who visit Carroll. However, this is my first year as an editor.

I am also a part of the Carroll football team as a quarterback. Go Saints.

Growing up in Southern Oregon, I have grown up to appreciate the outdoors. But, more specifically, the river, with Grants Pass being the best river town in America, having the Rogue River split the city in half. Ask anyone from GP, and they will tell you the same thing, so in my book, that means it’s true.

My town’s river runs to the Pacific Ocean and is one of the eight original wild and scenic rivers. Grants Pass’s main attraction is the Rogue, hosting world-famous whitewater rafting, salmon and steelhead fishing, and the Boatnik Festival, Oregon’s second-largest fair.

Because of that love for the river, you will find me out on the water, fly fishing whenever I have free time. If you get a chance, you should check out Slayfest Fishing Co., where I post my friends and I’s fishing adventures and sell some pretty rad hats and fishing stickers.

The community at Carroll has been nothing short of amazing and has made my time here a blast. I will be forever grateful for having the opportunity to spend four years at this small college in the heart of Montana.

After Carroll, I plan to pursue a career in marketing and entrepreneurship in the outdoors industry, pursuing my professional and personal passions.
