Current campus safety measures

Throughout the years, Carroll College has refined and added new safety measures to ensure the safety of all of the students, faculty, staff, and guests.

Carroll begins securing the safety of its students through the incorporation of the emergency on-call Residential Life and security patrol office numbers on the back of each student ID. In addition, all dorm and classroom-affiliated buildings require a key-card swipe-in to gain access to the buildings.

“It can be annoying having to constantly swipe in and out of buildings especially when you’re trying to hurry to class,” said Garrett Long, a business major from Wenatchee, Washington. “But it also provides a sense of security, knowing that only those who are allowed or supposed to be in the building have to use their key card to gain access.”

Carroll also utilizes emergency contact to notify students and faculty of developing situations and emergencies on campus.

“Upon the confirmation of a significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate threat to the health or safety of students or employees occurring on campus, Carroll College will alert students and employees immediately,” said Jason Grimmis, the director of campus safety and security. “Emergency or security alerts will be posted by email, on the college’s Student Life webpage, on the college’s Emergency Response webpage, and/or through the use of Regroup, the college’s emergency messaging system, to emergency contact phone numbers.”

The emergency notification services combined with a community that values the safety of its members and visitors create the safe environment that Carroll encompasses.

“The college benefits from a community whose members truly care about one another,” Grimmis said. “By watching and remaining alert to our surroundings, we can work to maintain a safe environment and identify dangerous and unsafe practices or facilities.”
